Excerpt:
It was impossible to say how long he’d been moving—time had no meaning in this underground prison. He’d been here for longer than the remains of his brain would allow him to consider. It wouldn’t let him have much beyond a few scant memories. But the images that came and went in his mind, he couldn’t be sure were memories at all. They were just moving pictures that he couldn’t identify, places he didn’t recognise, maybe they were even scenes from films, rather than his former life.
