Everything about Kurtis Trent – biography, fact file, removed abilities, pants size, etc. Oops! Did I actually type that?

Kurtis Trent: Deleted Features

So you liked Angel of Darkness. What if I tell you that AoD we know today is a partly-unfinished game? Yes, that’s true. The version of Kurtis we play with in AoD, and his levels, are a long way from what was originally intended by the designers. Perhaps more than any other part of the game, Kurtis was a victim of the last-minute ‘cut loads of things out to get the game ready on time’ syndrome. Shame, since it seems clear that although he is less agile physically than Lara, he was supposed to have advantages over her in the form of his supernatural abilities, which would have made him just as good to play, but in a new and different way.

Effectively, what has happened is that all his plus points (Chirugai, Farsee, power drain, telekinesis) have been cut out, and his minus points (relative lack of agility and few weapons) have been left in, resulting an unbalanced character. As it stands, he lacks some of Lara’s abilities while having no unique abilities of his own to compensate. Not only does it mean that he’s not as cool to play as he should have been, but inevitably, some people don’t think there’s any point in playing him at all.

Left-Out Abilities

Cut Out Lines of Text

These can be found in the text/dialogue file of AoD. Thanks to everyone on the forums who helped completing the list. However, for a complete list of all the hidden text in the PC version of the game, go here.

Ex hostium vi mea vis mai.

Luceat eais in materia virentis. Volare incipit ab initio ad scopus. Maxima vires ad incrementum.

Intruder. Male and moving fast. Watch him. Spotted him. He’s… Urch!

Lara: Excuse me. And excuse you, too. Do you know a Louis Bouchard?
Kurtis: I’m a stranger round here.
Lara: Don’t let me distract you from your paper.

Kurtis: Come on, I’ll help you find a way out.
Crazy Dude: Aaaargh! Get off me!
Kurtis: Alright, but calm down.

Guess we’re all gonna have to take our chances then.

I need to get to sub level 6.

It’s a kill zone in here. My God, they’ve actually created a Proto Nephilim hybrid!

Raw meat on the menu. Again.

Nice décor. Looks like happy hour.

Another goddamn demon to kill.

Send me back to the Legion.

So this is where they kept the Proto, till they lost power. Good work Lara. They managed to keep the Proto in here, till they lost power. Clever girl, Lara — you’ve let the Genie out.

That was too close! Yeah, livin’ on the edge! Phew! I need a holiday.

Alright, let’s see what you got, chimp boy.

No more running. It’s showtime!

OK, deal the cards. Death takes all.

Time to die, Monkey! C’mon Bobo, don’t be shy.

Let’s dance! OK, ugly, just you and me.

Bitch! Goddam bug face! Witch! Hag! Rot in hell!

Why are things never easy?

I musta been real bad to deserve all this.

I get all the dirty jobs.

I hate this job. All the hassles and none of the perks.

I gotta ask for a rise. That’s my demon quota for today.

Three strikes and OUT!

Ha! Last word to me!
